“His Blood Is On Us”

Book: Matthew

In Matthew 27, we come face to face with the weight of Jesus’ suffering—and the human responses surrounding it. From Judas’ remorse to the crowd’s outrage, from Pilate’s hesitation to the soldiers’ cruelty, this chapter reveals how brokenness, sin, and self-interest collide with the innocence of Christ.

Yet in the middle of all this darkness, we see something deeper: the simplicity of the gospel.

While people try to shift blame, fix their mistakes, or reject the truth, Jesus remains silent, steady, and surrendered—moving forward to the cross for us. The same crowd that cries out, “His blood be on us,” unknowingly speaks a profound truth: it is only by His blood that we are forgiven.

This message invites us to wrestle with our own response to Jesus. Will we resist Him, ignore Him, or surrender to Him? Because even in the midst of humanity’s worst, God is accomplishing His greatest work—making a way for salvation through the sacrifice of His Son.
